  • We pulled the winning tickets for the Red Sox/Yankees raffle. The first place prize which was a pair of tickets for the Red Sox/Yankees game on April 25th went to J LaMorte of Walpole. The second place prize which was a gift certificate to two local restaurants went to K Perkins of Walpole.
  • There is still time to buy the raffle tickets for the Billy Joel concert. Contact Karin Riddle at kriddle946@aol.com for details.

March 28, 2009

  • Last weekend at the Philadelphia Regional we went undefeated until the finals, where we were ultimately defeated. Although it would have been nice to win just two more matches, we were very pleased with the result. We extend our congratulations to all of the other teams who won awards and are looking forward to seeing many of the same faces at WPI Battlecry X in May.

March 11, 2009

  • We made it to the semifinals in Boston and hope to do even better in Philadelphia next weekend. After the qualifying rounds, we were in 13th place out of the 53 teams that competed. We were glad to receive the Motorola Quality Award which "celebrates machine robustness in concept and fabrication." We also hope to compile videos and pictures of our matches before we travel to the Philadelphia Regional on March 19th.

February 17, 2009

  • We have finished the final robot and are now in the process of shipping it to the competition. Until the Boston Regional on March 5th, we will not be able to work on the final robot, but we can practice and fine-tune the autonomous on the prototype. Here is a picture of the final robot. Hope to see everyone in Boston!

February 7, 2009

  • We have finished the prototype robot and are now working on the competition robot. The programmers are fine tuning the autonomous mode to make the robot follow the target by itself.
  • Team HYPER 69 of Quincy invited us to a practice competition on February 14th which should be pretty fun and useful.

January 22, 2009

  • Today we got the robot to follow the other robot autonomously using the camera. We continue to prototype our robot with an Archimedes screw which elevates the game balls from the floor to the hopper. Soon we will have more pictures and Youtube videos of matches from past games.

January 17, 2009

  • We have continued to prototype the Archimedes screw idea and it's working pretty well. We also laid down more of the 'Regolith' material in our shop so we can test the robot on this slippery surface. The computer programmers are furthering their understanding of the LabVIEW software which they will use to program the robot. We have also have prototyped our robot chassis.

January 3, 2009

  • We kicked off the season today and found out about this year's game called Lunacy. The game description can be found here. All day we brainstormed possible robot ideas for this year's season and inspected our kit of parts.

December 18, 2008

  • Today we continued working on our projects. The new controller is coming together. We have new logo designs for our uniforms. Also progress was made on our holonomic drivetrain robot, given the name Stealth HDX. We also added a Scholarship Page with the name, picture, and brief description of what the winner did to earn the scholarship.

December 13, 2008

  • We are in the process of brightening up our big room. As we continue the process of redesign, we are getting excited for the new competition. FIRST sent out an email with the game hint on December 4, 2008. The clue is a picture of a fish and can be found here. The second game hint came from Bill's Blog and is a short poem which can be read here. Our Groups Pages have been updated and can be reached on the About Us page.

December 4, 2008

  • A lot has happened since the last post. Last week we got the new rug, so today we were finally able to put all of our "junk" back into the main room. Click here to see us painting the room and what it looks like now with the carpet. We are also continuing to work with the new robot controller (we now have a grand total of four wires connected).

November 20, 2008

  • Yesterday we received our "box" which contains the new robot controller, yet we have not opened it. We also extend congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Scott with their newborn twins, William and Coleman. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

November 17, 2008

  • The art design team finished painting their logos onto the walls of our workspace.

October 16, 2008

  • The Walpole RoboRebels are currently preparing for this year's robotics season. There was a meeting today after school and many new faces showed up, so this year is already proving to be promising! Also, since the beginning of school, old and new members alike have been busy painting our room at Plimpton. We will soon have a new rug. The website team (as you may have noticed) has made a completely new design for the website, but over the next few months we hope to improve it even more. Stay tuned for an updated "Media" section which should be available in a few weeks.
