The Walpole Robotics Foundation participates in a number of different STEM programs and community outreach. If you think you have a program idea that you wish to see executed, or an event you want us to show up to, please email walpolerobotics@gmail.com with your request or fill out the form below.
Robotics Programs
The Walpole Robotics Foundation runs two separate robotics programs for children aged 8 all the way to 18 by participating in competitions run by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) . These programs are both educational and competitive, getting the children interested into the world of STEM. See more about these two programs, FIRST Robotics Competition and FIRST Lego League below.
Library Programs
The Walpole Robotics Foundation and the Walpole High School Robotics Teams, FRC 1153 and 1119 have partnered up with the library to organize and run a variety of various free STEM related programs. To date, together we have successfully run three FIRST Lego League Challenge Teams, run many Tech Take Aparts, and various other programs, with more always to come. See the information below about those programs, and when they will be run next. We are very thankful to the Walpole Public Library to partner up with us to help us spread our goal of getting more people interested into the world of STEM.
Tech Take-Apart
Tech Take-Aparts are open during scheduled sessions, where we take old, donated technology, apart. These sessions are open to the general public, where people will be able to learn the various components installed in pieces of technology and about the industry as a whole.
Microbits
Microbits are small circuit boards that can teach people how to accomplish various tasks, such as programming LED patterns. We have started using Microbits as an excellent educational resource.
FLL With the Library
We run three FLL Teams with the Walpole Public Library to promote good STEM programs and education within our community. Our teams have been very successful, and we hope to continue these programs indefinitely. See More on our FIRST LEGO LEAGUE page.
Community Outreach
The Walpole Robotics Foundation helps set up and run many different events within our community. Additionally, we volunteer at local events to show off our robots, like our famous Frisbee Bot, and to help out. Below are a few examples of the things we do!
Walpole Day
The biggest event of the year! This is a town fair where we show up with competition robots ready to drive, giving people the opportunity to drive them, as well as show off different projects that we have!
Apple Harvest Festival
This is a smaller church fair, but same idea! Come with the robots ready to go. This is always a lot of fun!
Ice Cream Social @ Bird Park
Another big event for Walpole Robotics. Not only do we help pre-scoop and serve ice cream, but we also bring our bots to show off and have fun, such as our popular t-shirt cannon! Nothing is better than sitting back, watching robots and eating ice cream!
Here are some pictures from the various events!
