FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION

“To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders.”

Dean Kamen, Founder

“Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship.”. FIRST Robotics Competition is considered to be the “Ultimate Sport of the Mind”, and the “hardest fun you’ll ever have”. The Walpole High School Robotics Team has competed as Team FRC 1153 since 2003, with our rookie game being “Stack Attack”. The most recent game we competed in was the 2023 game “Charged Up”.

For the 2024 Season CRESCENDO, the Walpole Robotics Foundation has funded and founded another FRC team, 1119 the “Pup Cups”. This will allow our students double the chances to interact with the robot, influence it in their image, and be on the drive team.

FRC 1153 has ~20 mentors all with different skills, whether it be programming, design, working with tools, fundraising, etc. We also have between 35 and 55 students every year who all come together to build award winning robots.

Our team is funded by plenty of amazing sponsors that help keep this program running! We are extremely appreciative of their support, and thank them for helping us spread STEM education throughout our community and beyond.
